The Las Vegas Raiders found themselves in a deep hole after they succumbed to a 43-6 defeat to the Atlanta Falcons in Week 12. Raiders head coach Jon Gruden didn't have much to say after their disappointing performance and only likened the frustrating situation to an uncanny comparison.

“When you go to the dentist and have to have your teeth pulled out? It’s pretty much like that,” Gruden said via EastBay Times.

He also detailed some of the team's pivotal mistakes which led to one of the most lopsided losses he's had since he came back to the Raiders in 2018.

“Fourth-and-1, we had the ball, we go for it, we get rejected, Gruden said. Next possession, first down, going to take a shot with an aggressive play-action protection. Sack, strip, fumble. Right before the half we’re going in for points. Sack, strip, fumble. Early in the third quarter, great field position, interception for a touchdown.”

The Raiders started the game on the wrong foot after failing to score a single point in the first quarter. Their woes continued on as quarterback Derek Carr failed to get going in the pocket where he struggled to locate his teammates on the field.

He was sacked thrice and threw an interception en route to tallying a total of 215 yards on 22-of-34 pass completions. He found little help in the scoring department as his weapons also failed to get their rhythm going in the game.

On the other hand, the Falcons used huge scoring runs in the second half to widen the gap on the scoreboard against the Raiders. The Atlanta-based squad successfully defended their home turf and improved to a 4-7 record while the Raiders dropped back to 6-5.

With their win-loss tally through Week 12, the Men in Black still find themselves in the hunt for a playoff spot. They will aim to bounce back and halt their two-game losing skid in Week 13 against the lowly New York Jets.
