Former Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Blake Bortles is now reportedly a member of the Los Angeles Rams. Slated to serve as a back up quarterback for the reigning NFC Champions in Sean McVay's offense, Bortles will remain behind Jared Goff on the Rams' depth chart heading into the 2019 campaign.

Nonetheless, Bortles still chose to sign a one-year deal with the Rams rather than attempt to become a starter elsewhere.

Of course, Bortles' time in Jacksonville didn't end very well as the veteran signal caller was benched midway through last season. Then, before the new league year even got underway this time around, Bortles was again replaced — this time by former Rams quarterback and Philadelphia Eagles Super Bowl hero Nick Foles. As a result of the Jaguars signing Foles to a multi-year deal this offseason, Bortles was promptly released by the struggling AFC South franchise.

“The Jaguars released quarterback Blake Bortles Wednesday,” reads the Jaguars' statement regarding the matter, via the team's official website. “Bortles, the No. 3 overall selection by the Jaguars in the 2014 NFL Draft, was released early Wednesday evening – shortly after the team announced it had agreed to terms with unrestricted free agent quarterback Nick Foles.”

However, there was at least one bright spot for Bortles during his stint in Jacksonville. In 2017, the Jaguars reached the postseason by way of winning an AFC South title. Not only that, but Bortles and the Jaguars came within one game of reaching the Super Bowl. Unfortunately, it was a one-and-done type of situation for the Jaguars, who found themselves in the cellar of the AFC South in 2018.
