Not many people are willing to publicly defend Robert Kraft right now. One person who is, however, is former Rams running back and Pro Football Hall of Fame member Eric Dickerson. Dickerson stuck up for the embattled New England Patriots owner in comments he made to TMZ Sports.

Kraft, of course, was recently arrested and charged with soliciting prostitution at a Florida massage parlor.

Dickerson called the many people criticizing Kraft “hypocrites,” and said “you never know what a man does behind closed doors.” He defended Kraft on a personal level, saying “I like Mr. Kraft. I like him a lot, I have a lot of respect for him.”

Dickerson is widely considered to be one of the greatest running backs of all time. His single season rushing yardage record still stands today, at 2,135 yards. He was the second overall pick in the 1983 NFL draft, and went on to become a five-time first-team All-Pro.

Dickerson is no stranger to controversial comments. He famously feuded with the Rams and old coach Jeff Fisher, but has since reconciled with the team after Sean McVay took over as coach. At one point a couple of years ago, Dickerson called for backup Sean Mannion to be the Rams' starter over Jared Goff.

Kraft pleaded not guilty to the charges and it will likely be some time before there's a resolution to the case. Unless he's exonerated, he's likely to face some sort of punishment from the league.
