Whenever the 2020 NFL season kicks off, the Los Angeles Rams will be without a crucial cog in its wide receiving corps from the past two seasons. In the wake of Brandin Cooks' trade to the Houston Texans on Friday, both Rams quarterback Jared Goff and wide receiver Cooper Kupp took to social media to send heartfelt farewells to their teammate.

Kupp cited Cooks' “incredible” leadership and abilities as a teammate, wishing his friend the best as he joins the Texans, who have an enormous void to fill at wideout in the wake of the DeAndre Hopkins trade from earlier in the offseason.

Presumably, Kupp will take on an even more significant role in the offense for Los Angeles next season, already coming on the heels of a 10-touchdown campaign in which he accrued north of 1,100 receiving yards in 2019.

The man throwing him those passes, Goff, also said farewell to Cooks, who made himself one of the team's primary deep threats in 2018 and '19. Goff told Cooks to “shoot them arrows bro,” a reference to the wideout's celebration. If Cooks is to shoot arrows in 2020, it will be coming off passes thrown by Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson.

Robert Woods will also presumably take a step up the depth chart for the Rams in Cooks' absence. But whether Josh Reynolds, a free agent, or a new selection in the 2020 NFL Draft makes an impact as the team's No. 3 wide receiver remains to be seen. For now, it's clear that Kupp and Goff will miss the contributions of Cooks, irrespective of who the team drafts to complete his deal.
