The Los Angeles Rams' identity is predicated on older veterans who are dying at a chance to win a Super Bowl. While the upstart Cincinnati Bengals are the underdog whose run of dominance is just getting started, the Rams are looking to get older veterans like Matthew Stafford, Von Miller, Andrew Whitworth and Eric Weddle a shot at taking home a championship ring.

While the other three veterans have been a part of the Rams since at least midway through the season, Weddle joined right as LA headed for the playoffs. He hadn't played since 2019 but decided to rejoin the Rams, playing a critical role in their playoff wins over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and San Francisco 49ers.

According to ESPN's Field Yates, Weddle was activated from the Rams practice squad and be set to go for the big game. The 37-year-old safety will wear the designated helmet with a transmitter that allows defenders and coaches to communicate.

There was no doubt about Weddle's availability for the big game, as it was previously decided that he would start and wear the green dot. The six-time Pro Bowler was signed as a practice squad player, so the team must elevate him in order for him to be a part of the active roster. He and Stafford will be among the all-time leaders for most career games without a Super Bowl appearance until kickoff tomorrow.

Weddle has confirmed that he will retire for good after this season. With one more game to go in his stellar career, he has the monumental task of helping to coordinate the Rams' defense.
