When the Los Angeles Rams traded for Marcus Peters, they were hoping to get a shutdown corner, but he has been far from that this season. His struggles were on full display on Sunday against the New Orleans Saints and Michael Thomas. Peters seemed to be getting burned every other play and Thomas finished with 211 receiving yards, a Saints franchise record.

After the game, Peters stood in front of the media and answered all the questions, promising to be better after a couple of terrible weeks.

“I’ll stand up,” Peters said via the Los Angeles Daily News. “I can play better. I’ve been playing (shabily) these last couple weeks, and that’s just being honest. I’m just going to continue to fight. That’s the type of player I am. You’re going to get beat in football, but you go out each week to the highest of your ability.”

Peters suffered a leg injury in September, but he wouldn't use that as an excuse for his struggles saying the coaches wouldn't put him out there if he wasn't healthy.

“If I wasn’t totally healthy, coach wouldn’t put me out there,” Peters said. “I had a bad couple weeks and I’ll step up. I know I’m a top … corner in this league and I ain’t been playing like that. Put that on me.”

The Rams defense struggled as a whole, but if Peters and the rest of the secondary struggle the rest of the year,  this might not be the special season that Sean McVay and his crew were hoping for.
