There has been plenty of speculation regarding the health of running back Todd Gurley this offseason. Fortunately, head coach Sean McVay indicates all signs point to him being on track with his progression.

Rumors have swirled about the severity of Gurley's knee injury. According to Gary Klein of the Los Angeles Times, McVay says he has not endured any setbacks with his recovery.

McVay on Gurley: “it’s been a progressive build. He hasn’t had any sort of setbacks.” Gurley will apparently remain on plan and not practice Thursday.

This is certainly an encouraging sign for the Rams. There had been plenty of concern that the severity of Gurley's knee injury was much worse than the team was leading on, however, it seems their star back has been able to do everything they have asked of him.

Although Los Angeles has dispelled any notion about Gurley's lingering health, they have indicated that he may face a lighter workload moving forward. They solidified that notion this offseason by re-signing Malcolm Brown and taking Darrell Henderson in the third round of the 2019 NFL Draft.

Despite solidifying some quality backups, all signs point to Gurley continuing his role as the central force behind this high-powered Rams' offense. Despite all the innovation that McVay has brought to Los Angeles, he has always acknowledged how much their success is predicated on an efficient run game.

With the expectations still has high as ever going into the 2019 NFL season, the Rams are likely doing what they can to ensure that Gurley is as healthy as possible for the playoffs.
