Los Angeles Rams edge rusher Dante Fowler Jr. is certainly an athlete. At the 2015 NFL Combine, he recorded a 4.60 40-time, 32.5-inch vertical jump, 112-inch broad jump, and a 4.32 twenty-yard-shuttle time. All while doing so at 6-foot-3 and 255-pounds.

Ultimately, he was selected at No. 3 overall to the Jacksonville Jaguars, then struggled to stay healthy and was shipped off to Los Angeles for a fresh start.

After a half-season of play in Los Angeles and signing a one-year deal, Fowler is turning up the jets on his NFL career.

Running back Todd Gurley talked to Steve Smith on NFL Network about how impressive Fowler has looked, saying:

“Dante Fowler. I know we signed him back on a one-year, we might need to go ahead and get him again. He’s been a new animal. He’s been getting to the ball as fast as Aaron Donald, so that tells you a lot about him.”

That's praise from Gurley on Fowler if you've ever heard it. Being mentioned in the same sentence as back-to-back Defensive Player of the Year Aaron Donald is impressive alone, saying he's getting to the ball as fast as him is another level. But, it's not like he never had the potential, he's an athletically gifted talent, but his career has been hampered by injuries. He's done well, when healthy, though.

In Fowler's second healthy season with Jacksonville (2017), he recorded eight sacks, seven tackles for loss, and 10 QB hits despite being used as a rotational pass rusher.

The Rams need help on the edge to supplement Donald, and Fowler may be the answer.
