Aaron Donald isn’t the only player the Los Angeles Rams have to worry about paying. While the team continues to work on Donald’s new mega-deal, there are a number of other Rams awaiting to get big new contracts, with Todd Gurley chief among them.

However, LA’s star running back understands the current situation completely and is willing to set his own contract concerns aside until the Rams take care of Donald.

“Obviously, we know Aaron Donald is the guy to get paid,” Gurley said to Alex Marvez and Gil Brandt on SiriusXM NFL Radio. “That’s the last thing we want to worry about is trying to get ours done when we need our best player to get paid.”

Gurley also believes that it’s more important to focus on winning over getting paid because the former will eventually take care of the latter.

“That’s not even really the focus right now,” Gurley said. “Once you win that Super Bowl, they don’t have a choice but to pay you whether it’s the Rams or any other team. Once we try to put that together and do that, everything will take care of itself. Just focus on what’s next.”

While Donald is set to become the highest-paid defensive player in the league, Gurley could have a case of being the top-earning running back if he continues to play like he did last season. He led the league with 19 total touchdowns and 2,093 yards from scrimmage as he emerged as a multifaceted weapon in head coach Sean McVay’s offense.

The Rams will have their work cut out for them to keep Gurley if he does demand to get paid like Donald, especially since they have the likes of Jared Goff, Lamarcus Joyner, and Marcus Peters to take care of as well. But that’s a problem that they and Gurley won’t have to tackle for a little while longer as they put their focus on more pressing matters in front of them.
