It's been a rough season for Pascal Siakam and the Toronto Raptors and the upcoming trade deadline seems to make things even worse. With the current Raptors roster somewhat hitting the ceiling, signs are pointing in the direction of a potential rebuild. Or at least when it comes to the team's championship core with court general Kyle Lowry being at the center of all the rumors.
Obviously, it doesn't help the Raptors' cause that they haven't been winning games as of late. This, according to Siakam, makes things a bit more difficult for the entire team to bear with (via ESPN).
“A lot of people are wondering what's going to happen. There are a lot of rumors out there. When you're losing, that makes it even worse. My focus was on trying to win a game and I was trying to block everything else away.”
Siakam, who recently had a heated altercation with Raptors coach Nick Nurse, also acknowledged that trade talks are part of the NBA and all teams inevitably have to break up to continue to improve, and their 2019 title roster isn't an exception.
“That's the NBA. There's a lot of doubt going on, but there's not much you can do. It's kind of out of your control.”
Pascal Siakam did do his best to help the Raptors come up with a much-needed win on Wednesday as they routed the Denver Nuggets, 135-111. The former Most Improved Player of the Year winner scored a team-high 27 points to go alongside eight boards and six assists to help the Raptors snap a nine-game losing skid.
Aside from Lowry, who may have played his last game for the Raptors, Norman Powell has also been mentioned in trade rumors.
