The Toronto Raptors are signing last years G-League MVP Lorenzo Brown to one year fully guaranteed contract, according to Shams Charania of Yahoo! Sports.

Last year, Brown was on a two-way contract with the Toronto and spent most of his time with the Raptors 905. He started 32 games for them averaging 18.8 points, 8.8 points, and 5.2 rebounds per game.

At the end of last season, Brown's deal was converted into a guaranteed contract so he would be eligible for the NBA playoffs, but in doing so, it also made him an unrestricted free agent for this summer. During the playoffs, he did appear in four games but didn't have a ton of impact. The Raptors saw enough to like that they wanted to bring him on for at least one more season.

The Raptors hired Nick Nurse this NBA offseason to be the head coach, and he has already shown he isn't shy about calling out players. He has already called out DeMar DeRozan saying he needs to work on playing better defense next season.

“I wouldn’t make the comments if I thought he was shying away from it,” Nick Nurse said, per the Toronto Sun.

“We sat down, he’s on the edge of his seat saying, ‘What do you got for me.’ I was like, “Well’ … and I start in and he finishes my sentence: ‘I know, I’m better than that, I want to work at it.’”

“I don’t expect you to be Bruce Bowen (by) Game 1, but by the time the playoff hits, we’ve got to have you because there’s no place we can hide you,” Nurse said.
