Contradictory to earlier reports stating that Toronto Raptors point guard Kyle Lowry had “zero interest” in returning to the organization, team president Masai Ujiri said Tuesday the All-Star dynamo has told him the very opposite.

“He's been a part of our organization, and he says he wants to come back,” Ujiri told reporters, according to ESPN. “I know, speculation… with the article. We all have ups and downs. There are times when he's been down, and there are times when we are down. It happens to every team, every player. People go through it.”

These comments come at the heels of a Toronto Star report that stated Lowry had told other teams he didn't intend to remain with the Raptors.

The 6-foot floor general went on Twitter to dispute the claims.

“I know what Kyle has told me,” Ujiri said. “Kyle has been here working out — he actually just left — so I know what he has been telling me. I can only believe what he tells me, not the famous ‘sources.'”

The 30-year-old point man declined his 2017-18 player option and is set to become an unrestricted free agent on July 1.

Lowry averaged a career-best 22.4 points per game along with career-best percentages of 46.4 percent from the floor and 41.2 percent from deep last season.

Having been an All-Star the past three seasons, it hasn't proved enough for the Raptors, who have reached the playoffs in the previous four seasons but lost the last two years to their Eastern Conference rival Cleveland Cavaliers.
