The NBA on TNT crew surprised Toronto Raptors head coach Nick Nurse with a special, pre-recorded visit from someone very close to him.

Nurse was ambushed by a messaged recorded by his former high school coach of Kuemper Catholic High School's basketball team, Wayne Chandlee, who shared with him the news that he won the 2019-20 NBA Coach of the Year award.

It was a heartwarming piece of television as Nurse expressed genuine surprise and emotion as the elderly Chandlee bestowed the highest NBA coaching honor upon the Raptors champion (via NBA on TNT).

The Raptors currently lead the Brooklyn Nets 3-0 in their first-round playoff matchup, with what could be the deciding Game 4 tilt coming Sunday evening. The depleted Nets entered the Orlando “bubble” without Kyrie Irving, Kevin Durant, Spencer Dinwiddie, and DeAndre Jordan.

Nurse and the Raptors are chasing their second consecutive title after the then-first-year head coach led Toronto to the first championship in franchise history in 2018-19. Despite the loss of Finals MVP and star forward Kawhi Leonard in free agency, the Raptors look possibly even better than last year's title run and have a legitimate shot to repeat.
