One could presume that even today, there still may be tension between players who featured for the Boston Red Sox and those who played for the New York Yankees during the height of their rivalry over the 2000s. However, this is far from the case with David Ortiz and Alex Rodriguez.

The two have always shared a close bond. For one, Alex Rodriguez noted in 2018 that even as the rivalry between the Yankees and Red Sox was quite heated two decades ago, he once met with Ortiz and stayed up to “three, four o'clock in the morning” as they were simply there for each other.

Ortiz and Rodriguez are now teammates at FOX Sports, as they are studio analysts for its MLB postseason coverage.

Still, as Ortiz joked during ESPN’s “KayRod Cast” for the Yankees and Red Sox encounter on Sunday, it can be quite a hassle to deal with the former American League MVP Award winner “every day.”

“Alex always has been in my corner,” Ortiz said. “Now I hate him more than when I was away from him because now I gotta put up with him every day.”

From their love of baseball to their exuberant personalities, it sure is far from a surprise that the two still share a close friendship to this day.
