Washington Redskins running back Adrian Peterson is questionable for Sunday's NFC tilt with the Detroit Lions, according to the team's injury report. The veteran tailback is suffering from a toe injury and returned to practice on Friday (in a limited fashion) after missing the first two practice sessions of the week.

Peterson, 34, played in Week 11's loss to the New York Jets, rushing for 25 yards on nine attempts in the process. In nine games of 2019 play, he has tallied 516 yards and a touchdown on 124 rush attempts. The veteran has seen an uptick in snaps since Bill Callahan became the team's interim head coach, as the coach has emphasized the ground game.

Despite his questionable status, earlier reports indicate that Peterson is expected to play on Sunday. However, if not, second-year back Derrius Guice will get the start. Last week, against the Jets, Guice recorded seven rushes for 24 yards and a reception for 45 yards and a score.

Fellow running back Chris Thompson (toe) and cornerback Josh Norman (hamstring) joins Peterson as those questionable to play. Tight end Vernon Davis (concussion) is out. Defensive lineman Daron Payne (ankle) is doubtful.

On the other side of the ball, the Lions are dealing with a CVS receipt of rule-outs. Cornerback Jamal Agnew (ankle), defensive end Trey Flowers (concussion), defensive lineman Da'Shawn Hand (hand), offensive lineman Frank Ragnow (concussion), quarterback Matthew Stafford (back) and safety Tracy Walker (knee) will not play. Cornerback Rashaan Melvin (ribs) is questionable.

Heading into the game against Detroit, the Redskins are 1-9. The Lions are 3-6-1.
