This coming April 27, Rocket League is releasing a new Limited Time Mode called Knockout Bash. The game mode will have a battle royale-esque gameplay featuring 8 players battling it out until 1 car remains.

Knockout Bash is a breath of fresh air for a game like Rocket League. It wouldn’t be the first time the game featured a limited-time mode. However, this is the first time Rocket League is doing away from its signature motorsports soccer gameplay. It’s an entirely brand new mode with new controls that players need to learn and master to survive the fray.

Instead of scoring goals, players must eliminate their opponents by knocking them off the platform or into hazards. Aside from charging in for demolition, Knockout Bash focuses more on blocking and grabbing mechanics. Players must utilize these controls in order to send their enemies flying off the arena or towards the spiky posts. In Knockout Bash, each player will only have 3 lives before they are completely eliminated from the match. Any player knocked into the safe zone will only have 10 seconds to make their way back. Lastly, if players still remain in the arena after 6 minutes, the match will transition into sudden KO. This means every type of attack will have maximum power.

Rocket League’s classic game modes alone are already chaotic in their own way. From demolitions to aerial moves to epic saves, the classic soccer mode is already insane. With Knockout Bash coming soon, things will become even more hellacious. Knockout Bash will officially launch as a limited-time mode in Rocket League on April 27.
