Houston Rockets guard Chris Paul has passed Alvin Robertson for ninth on the NBA's all-time steals list.

Paul achieved the feat during the Rockets' 130-105 rout of the Sacramento Kings on Tuesday. He entered the game needing only two steals to surpass Robertson's mark.

Chris Paul exactly had two steals in the game, propelling him past Robertson's career total of 2,112 steals.

Alvin Robertson was an 11-year NBA veteran, four-time NBA All-Star and the 1986 NBA Defensive Player of the Year. He played for the San Antonio Spurs, Milwaukee Bucks, Detroit Pistons, and Toronto Raptors in 779 games.

As for Paul, he's in his 14th NBA season. He's a nine-time NBA All-Star, four-time All-NBA First Team member, seven-time NBA All-Defensive First Team member, and two-time NBA All-Defensive Second Team member. He has played for the then-New Orleans Hornets, Los Angeles Clippers, and Houston Rockets in 892 career games.

The eight players who precede Paul in the NBA's all-time steals list are John Stockton (3,265), Jason Kidd (2,684), Michael Jordan (2,514), Gary Payton (2,445), Maurice Cheeks (2,310), Scottie Pippen (2,307), Clyde Drexler (2,207) and Hakeem Olajuwon (2,162).

The 33-year-old Paul has shown no signs of slowing down. It's safe to say he will move up the steals leaderboard in his next few seasons. Surpassing Robertson — a solid two-way player during his heyday — was no easy feat. Getting past Stockton, one of the best point guards in the history of the NBA, should motivate Paul no end.

Paul finished with seven points, five rebounds and 12 assists in the win over the Kings.
