The Houston Rockets are heading to the 2022 NBA Draft with the no. 3 overall pick, and according to reports, they are leaning on picking Paolo Banchero. However, with the potential arrival of the Duke forward, questions about Christian Wood's future with the team have also surfaced.

According to a Hoops Hype mock draft, Wood's position with in Houston is a big concern as the Rockets assess whether he'll be a good fit alongside Green and Banchero.

“Rival executives who’ve spoken with HoopsHype expect the Rockets to gauge the trade market on Wood’s value this summer. Houston needs to decide if Wood, who turns 27 in September, is going to be a long-term member of the core or be traded for future assets that may align better with Jalen Green and potentially Banchero.”

Paolo Banchero is one of the best prospects available in the draft, and there are even talks how he could be picked higher in the annual rookie selection. If he's available at no. 3, then it's a no-brainer for the Rockets to get him as they try to surround Jalen Green with more talent.

Christian Wood, for his part, has been involved in trade rumors as of late. If the Rockets want to trade him, several teams are expected to be interested in his services. Wit that said, there is a good chance Houston could get something significant in return for the big man.

It remains to be seen what the Rockets will do, though at just 26 years old and some solid production in recent years, Wood definitely has high upside. Hopefully, the potential addition of Banchero woks for him and Houston.
