The two Hallway rivals in the Los Angeles Lakers and the Los Angeles Clippers are both jockeying for position in a bid to secure the services of forward Markieff Morris for next season, as per the New York Times‘ Marc Stein.

The former Kansas Jayhawk was acquired by the Lakers on a one-year deal back on February 23, 2020, two days after Markieff Morris agreed to a buyout with his former team in the Detroit Pistons. He was immediately instated to be the team's designated bruiser where he saw significant minutes on the floor, especially in the 2020 NBA Playoffs.

In 21 appearances inside the Orlando Bubble, Morris bumped his scoring averages from the regular season and tallied 5.9 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 1.6 assists in 18.3 minutes per game.

Markieff Morris didn't need to tally big numbers especially with the heavy contribution coming from star big man Anthony Davis and his supporting cast in Dwight Howard and JaVale McGee.

Despite the lack of flashy stats and being a late pickup, Morris managed to make his presence felt and settle in his role on the team. However, he will get to see a different frontline next season with Howard already packing his bags to head to the Philadelphia 76ers and McGee being recently traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers. The reigning Sixth Man of the Year in Montrezl Harrell was also added to the Purple and Gold alongside veteran big man Marc Gasol from the Toronto Raptors.

His twin brother Marcus, previously landed a lucrative four-year, $64 million contract and will remain on the Clippers for the coming seasons. He also took to Twitter to recruit Markieff to join him on this side of town:

The coming days will be pivotal for the Lakers as they aim to retain one of their key role players and finalize their roster heading into the 2020-2021 NBA season.
