Russell Westbrook dazzled fans with his play during the 2016-17 season, walking away not only with the Most Valuable Player award, but also endearing the Oklahoma City Thunder faithful to one of the most memorable seasons in franchise history.

The 6-foot-3 point guard is hoping to trail-blaze his way in the fashion industry as well, leaving a message that even those who can't afford the high-end brand name clothes, can still own their unique sense of style and make it one worth remembering.

“I want to be able to show people, especially with fashion, that you don't always have to wear the high-end, the Gucci, the Louis [Vuitton], the Prada, whatever it is that you might wanna wear… you can mix and match,” Westbrook told Sports Illustrated after being ranked No. 1 in the magazine's Fashionable 50 list.

With clothing and sneaker prices reaching all-time highs along with designer wear, Westbrook's often unorthodox combinations are a far cry from the NBA's standard pre-game outfits — often challenging the general perception of what formal wear is like.

“You can wear whatever it is you're feeling you're able to afford and still be fashionable and I think that's the thing I'm trying to pull off with my brand,” said Westbrook. “You can be fashionable with whatever you buy.”
