One longtime NFL scout believes that Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz is on the same level as Kansas City Chiefs star Patrick Mahomes. Wentz has had success since coming into the NFL, but has dealt with injuries that have cut his seasons short, so some don't talk about the talent he has when he is healthy.

The NFL scout points out that it's about to be a new era of NFL quarterbacks and he thinks for the next 15 years it could be Mahomes and Wentz that are the two leaders of that pack.

Via Matt Miller in Bleacher Report on Thursday:

“I think people forget just how special Carson is,” one longtime NFL scout says. “It's not crazy to expect him to be on the level of Patrick Mahomes as the future of the position. Tom Brady and Drew Brees are nearing the end. The next 15 years, we could be talking about Pat and Carson.

“He's that good.”

One of the big problems with Wentz is the injury issue. It doesn't matter how good he is, if he isn't healthy for the playoffs that will always be the talk.

If Wentz can continue to play at a high level—and stay healthy—there is no doubt the stats support him being one of the best in the league.

In 2017, the year the Eagles won the Super Bowl, Wentz threw for 3,296 yards, 33 touchdowns, and seven interceptions. The old battle used to be Brady and Manning being the big rivalry and the next one could be Mahomes and Wentz.
