With a huge week ten matchup that both teams can ill-afford to lose, it looks like the Seattle Seahawks will be going into battle against the Green Bay Packers without one of their main weapons–running back Chris Carson. Seahawks Head coach Pete Carroll confirmed the news today, via John Boyle of Seahawks.com.

While Carson may still be out, the Seahawks can count on one of their best players to be in for this one, as superstar quarterback Russell Wilson is set to make his return to the lineup for the first time since injuring his hand against the Los Angeles Rams in week five. Carson has been out since week four, and the Seahawks are 1-3 in his absence with the only win coming two weeks ago against the lowly Jacksonville Jaguars.

Even with the bye week last week, giving Carson an extra week to get ready, the team did not feel it is in his best interest to put him out there. In the meantime, the Seahawks have gone with Alex Collins and Rashaad Penny on early downs and using DeeJay Dallas and Travis Homer on passing downs. Surely they would love to get back to giving 15 touches or more per game to the electrifying Carson but now is not that time. He was just activated from the IR this week and most likely needs a week or two to adjust back to the speed and contact of the NFL.

It may be too late by then, however, as the Seahawks sit at 3-5 and are one game back of the final wild-card spot in the NFC. The division is slowly slipping away from them as well, with the Arizona Cardinals and Los Angeles Rams already with eight and seven wins, respectively; falling to 3-6 could simply be too big of a hole to dig out of for this Seahawks team.
