Seattle Seahawks safety Kam Chancellor’s playing days are most likely over after his recent post strongly hinted at that unfortunate fact. That means he’ll need to find a different line of work at some point.

Falcons head coach Dan Quinn has a suggestion for what that could be. Quinn, who coached Chancellor for two seasons as the Seahawks’ defensive coordinator, believes Kam has the ability to be an excellent coach if he so chooses because of his God-given gift to connect with people.

“You know what, I know whatever he will I’m hopeful that it involves a leadership role,” Quinn said on 710 ESPN Seattle’s Danny, Dave and Moore. “Whether that’s running his own business, if that involves coaching one day – which I think he would be excellent at – whatever it is, my hope is that he has a chance to impact people. Because that is one of his most amazing gifts, the connection he has with others. When you’re in his presence, you really feel special. That’s a gift that he has and (I hope) he’s able to share that. Whether it’s in business or in coaching, whatever it is, he’s going to be outstanding.”

The Seahawks have lost a number of their veteran leaders this offseason, but Chancellor’s loss might be the biggest of them all. He was arguably the Seahawks’ main leader on and off the field because of that ability to form strong connections with his teammates, which is why he will be especially tough to replace.

Hopefully, Chancellor will find happiness and fulfillment with whatever he chooses to do in his post-playing days. And if it just so happens to be coaching other football players as Quinn suggests, then so be it.
