There is no doubt that the Seattle Seahawks have undergone some major changes during this NFL offseason. It appears wide receiver Doug Baldwin has already started to feel the difference ahead of training camp.

The Seahawks parted ways with almost every one of their key players in an attempt to salvage a rebuild moving forward. Baldwin acknowledged the absence of these players on Q13 News.

“It is different,” Baldwin said. “There’s a large void there. We had a lot of leadership that was just natural, honestly, especially on the defensive side of the ball, obviously. Those individuals challenged the entire team. Whether you want to say it was good or bad, they did push our entire team to maximize our potential. That element is missing — I shouldn’t say missing; it is missed — but there’s guys who can step up and fill that void on the defensive side of the ball.”

Seattle's injury-riddled 2017 campaign forced them to do some serious re-evaluating this offseason. It ultimately resulted in the departure of team leaders like cornerback Richard Sherman, safety Kam Chancellor, and linebacker Cliff Avril.

Unfortunately, it does not appear as if the damage is over either. The Seahawks are currently in the midst of trying to figure out what to do with safety Earl Thomas. All signs indicate that he could be traded in the near future.

Despite all these questions, Baldwin seems to be excited for a fresh start in the 2018 NFL season. Although it will undoubtedly take him some time to get accustomed to all the new faces, he does not have the luxury of sulking in their losses with the 2018 NFL season rapidly approaching.
