The Seattle Seahawks have gotten production out of their rookie wide receiver DK Metcalf. The rookie has 12 receptions for 267 yards and two touchdowns through the first five weeks, while also confirming his elite deep-threat status by leading the league in yards per reception (22.3).

Naturally, the Seahawks want to get him more involved in the offense. The man passing the ball, Russell Wilson, is at the forefront of those efforts.

We’re always looking to find ways to get the ball to 14 [Metcalf], just because of his freakish ability to get down the field and make plays and catches and be so strong,” Wilson said, via Andy Patton of Seahawks Wire. “He even caught that hitch the other day and it took about four or five guys to tackle him. That’s not normal. I think he’s a special football player and he will be for a long time.”

Getting Metcalf — a man with the physique and athleticism Greek gods would fall in love with — the ball is in Seattle's best interests. However, he hasn't been precisely consistent as a receiver. The rookie has caught 12 of his 26 targets, good for a subpar 46.2% catch rate. Though, he is yet to drop a ball.

Nonetheless, rookie wide receivers often have trouble being productive. That's not Metcalf. Getting more production out of him should — obviously — be in their best interests. If Metcalf can be more consistent as a catcher, the Seahawks passing attack would be that much scarier, with wide receiver Tyler Lockett and tight end Will Dissly blossoming in 2019.
