On Wednesday, Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll talked about the status of running back Chris Carson and his availability for this Sunday's game vs the Arizona Cardinals.

Carroll said that Carson will not practice Wednesday. He went on to say that the running back has not progressed the way the team had hoped to this point.

The Seattle Seahawks posted the entire press conference with Carroll and other players prior to Wednesday's practice.

This appears to be a setback, as Carson was able to practice last week with the team. Seattle Times writer Bob Condotta posted this a week ago.

Chris Carson has been out since he sustained a neck injury Week 4 vs the San Francisco 49ers. Alex Collins has primarily been filling in during Carson's absence, with mixed results.

After Carson practiced last week, it was thought he might be activated from the short-term IR. That did not happen. Coming out of an embarrassing shutout loss to the Green Bay Packers in Week 10, Carroll talked about wanting to run the ball more.

The Seahawks only ran the ball 11 times vs the Packers Sunday. Meanwhile, Russell Wilson threw the ball 40 times. Seattle has lost the time of possession battle in each game this season. It's hard to win when you consistently do not have the ball.

The Seahawks season is quickly going down the drain. They are 3-6 and in last place of the NFC West. If they want to to make a run at getting into the post season, it needs to start this weekend vs the division rival Arizona Cardinals. Arizona has been dealing with their own sets of injuries, with Kyler Murray and DeAndre Hopkins both missing the last two games.
