Seattle Seahawks linebacker Shaquem Griffin did not see the field much on defense in the 2018 NFL season. It appears that could very well change moving forward.

Griffin was able to overcome tremendous odds by fulfilling his NFL dream last year. According to Bob Condotta of the Seattle Times, this season is about establishing an even bigger role for the Seahawks.

“I have already seen the improvement,” Schneider said. “He was a flash player last year because he has that natural ability, and I just think he is going to be really, really consistent in terms of how he does it consistently [this year].”

Griffin burst on to the scene with his historic performance at the NFL's Scouting Combine last year. His stellar outing led the Seahawks to invest a fifth-round pick in him during the 2018 NFL Draft, who had taken his twin brother and cornerback Shaquill Griffin in the third round the year before. While his brother has since served as a starter on defense, he is still trying to make his bones as a consistent player for this team.

Griffin managed to start the season opener in place of injured linebacker K.J. Wright, however, he was quickly relegated to a special teams role upon Wright's return. As a result, he finished the 2018 campaign with just 11 tackles in 16 games. Seattle has continued to undergo some significant changes to their defense, which has opened the door for him to etch out an integral role on defense. It will be interesting to see how many times the Griffin brothers will be on the field at the same time in the 2019 NFL season.
