To most football fans, the Seattle Seahawks' quarterback situation is dismal. After trading Russell Wilson, the two main options are now Drew Lock and Geno Smith, neither of which are very inspiring. However, Tyler Lockett doesn't see it that way.

Replacing Wilson, the Seahawks' long-time star under center, with either the unproven Lock and the career backup Smith will undoubtedly be a downgrade. Lockett recognizes that not having a clear-cut starter brings a new, positive dynamic to the team. Per John Boyle of the team's website, the veteran wide receiver likes seeing a more competitive QB battle.

“It's just that competitive nature that takes you to different places that not having to be competitive doesn't take you. And so I think it's just something that's new, and I think it's something that's very interesting. I love to see it, because sometimes we've got to remember that this is a business, and business does want that competitive nature. And we do want that competitive edge, but being able to compete each and every day, to sharpen iron with iron, I think that helps us build something truly special.

Lockett, who joined the Seahawks in 2015, knows that there are adjustments to make with Wilson gone. Although he has experience with Smith, who played four games last season with Wilson injured, his game is much different from Wilson's. Seattle may also choose to go with Lock, a newcomer who the Seahawks received in the Wilson trade.

The Seahawks will need to improve on all other facets of the game to make up for the loss of their star QB. By the looks of it, Lockett is willing to do just that with his new quarterbacks.
