Expansion in the college football world has been a trending topic over the past couple of years. UCLA and USC recently went from the Pac-12 to the Big 10 which had fans asking which school may be next to jump ship. However, the SEC is reportedly content with the teams currently in place according to commissioner Greg Sankey.

Sankey, speaking at SEC media day, said the following in reference to potential conference-swapping moving forward, per 247sports.com.

“We'll be prepared to act, if there's a point at which we need to,” Sankey said. “I think what we've done is position ourselves, as a conference, an incredibly strong way and we want to magnify that strength. That really is about our move to 16. And if there are other needs, we'll see. But we're going to be prudent and careful. We're not going to panic because some other things are happening around us.”

He continued by leaving the door open for SEC expansion, but ultimately shutting down the rumors.

“The outreach I had was, ‘Hey, we watch what you've done, how you've led as a group and we want to be a part of the Southeastern Conference,' and I've had a few of those calls in the last three or four weeks. But that doesn't set us up for anything.”

Schools switching to the SEC seems feasible down the road. But Greg Sankey and the conference are content with how things stand at the moment. Nonetheless, it wouldn't be shocking to see further conference-swapping in the near future.
