The Florida State Seminoles came close to upsetting the ninth-ranked Notre Dame Fighting Irish on Sunday night, only to lose 41-38 in overtime. In the process, the Seminoles may have just found themselves with a bit of a quarterback quandary.

Jordan Travis got the start at quarterback for Florida State, but he was replaced by McKenzie Milton (who hadn't played in three years due to a brutal leg injury) after struggling in his stint and dealing with calf cramps. Seminoles head coach Mike Norvell spoke about the situation after the game and was very diplomatic in his answer.

Via Noles 247:

“I think Jordan had a great camp. He’s continuing to grow and improve in all phases,” Norvell said. “Tonight, I think there was some good and things he’s going to have to learn from. We have to make sure we’re owning the football. There were a couple decisions I know he wanted to have back, but at the end of the day, had some plays where he was able to do some things with his arms and his legs that were really impressive. We’re always going to continue to compete, to work together in that quarterback room. I’m excited about Jordan Travis and who he is as a player. We’re going to continue to push forward there together. We’ll face all that stuff as we get into this week.”

Travis completed just nine out of 19 pass attempts for 130 yards on the evening. He threw two touchdown passes but also tossed three interceptions. While Milton's numbers weren't all that impressive either (5-of-7 for 48 yards), he did help get the Seminoles back in the game in the second half after falling behind 38-20. Florida State scored 18 unanswered points to send the game to overtime before losing.

This will surely be a hot Seminoles topic all week as they prepare for their next game against Jacksonville State. We'll see who Mike Norvell goes with as the starter.
