The Midsummer Classic is finally here! FanDuel is providing odds for the MLB All-Star Game and has listed Shohei Ohtani as the MVP favorite. Take a look at our MLB odds series for more betting content on Major League Baseball.

Los Angeles Angels superstar and two-way player Shohei Ohtani is someone to keep an eye on for this game. Ohtani will be batting leadoff as the DH. He beat out Houston Astros slugger Yordan Alvarez as the starting DH. It's unclear how many at-bats Ohtani will get, but position players who start usually get at least two unless planned otherwise.

The American League hasn't lost since 2012, so it makes sense that an AL player is the favorite.

Ohtani comes in as (+480) odds to win the MVP and New York Yankees slugger Aaron Judge is second at (+600). Reigning 2021 All-Star Game MVP Vlad Guerrero Jr. is third at (+850) odds.

Juan Soto, who just won the Home Run Derby last night, has (+4100) odds coming off the bench.

Picking this award can be one of the toughest to make as it's hard to know how long these players will play, let alone contribute. The MVP is usually someone from the field, so think very hard when putting money down on Ohtani. If the lefty does end up getting at least three at-bats, then his odds of winning get higher. However, Ohtani will be facing Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Clayton Kershaw to start this game. Kershaw is pitching in his own ballpark so that gives the upper hand to the Dodgers' ace.

Ohtani is batting .258 with 19 home runs and 56 RBIs and might just bat in this game. If Ohtani does end up pitching, then that would be a surprise. The Angels probably just want him hitting anyway.

His stats from the mound are incredible as well. The right-hander is (9-4) with a 2.38 ERA in 87 innings. He has 123 strikeouts which is among the best in baseball.

At (+480), that is still a very good value to put on Ohtani, who as of now has a great chance of winning this award.
