Twitch streamer Michael “Shroud” Grzesiek comes out of retirement from the competitive scene.

The former Cloud9 pro player last played competitively in 2017 for Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. Shroud returns to competitive play, this time in Riot Games' VALORANT, along with former Cloud9 teammate n0thing and streamer ShawnBM. Former Apex Legends pro player iiTzTimmy and retired CS:GO pro Laski will complete the team's five-man roster.

Shroud confirmed the team's participation on stream late last night, although rumors about his return have been floating around in the past couple of weeks. Shroud's been out of the competitive scene for a long while now, but many still consider him as one of the best FPS players in the world. Fans flock to his streams to watch him score reality-defying headshots and kills. It's going to be interesting to see how he and his team will fare against seasoned VALORANT professionals.

Shroud and co. will be competing in the VALORANT Champions Tour 2021 North America Stage 3 Challengers 2. Being a new team, they will have to go through the grueling qualifiers round, which usually has hundreds of teams competing for the handful of slots in the Playoffs. Only four teams will come out alive of the qualifiers heading towards the playoffs.

However, qualifying for the Playoffs is just yet another step in the way. If ever Shroud's team manages to win at least third place in the Playoffs, they punch their tickets to the Berlin Masters.
