The Philadelphia 76ers will be facing the Toronto Raptors on the tail end of a back-to-back tonight. As such, NJ.com's Jake Pavorsky is reporting that big man Joel Embiid has been ruled out of action — a move that remains unpopular for Embiid, but the team felt necessary as he works his way to erasing doubts on his capacity for extended action.

“I'm not okay, but we have a plan in place and we have to follow it.”

After two games, Joel Embiid has averaged 27 minutes, which is a slight bump over his 25 from last season. The Cameroonian center did not have the full offseason to work out, spending plenty of time rehabbing from a season-ending injury from last year.

Although the regular season is still extremely young, Embiid's numbers leave much to be desired. His 14.5 points, 13.5 rebounds, 3.0 assists, and 1.5 blocks are very solid for any other big man, but not anyone boasts of a fresh $148 million contract. The new deals added up to the hype and anticipation for Embiid's second season, especially after producing insane numbers in limited time as a rookie.

However, the Sixers now own a much deeper rotation that is primed to make a postseason appearance and it eases the load on the former third overall pick in the 2014 draft, which makes the cautious approach on Joel Embiid understandable.
