The 2020-21 NBA season is winding down as the Philadelphia 76ers make their last push to regain their crown atop the East standings. With the playoffs approaching, Sixers star Joel Embiid has addressed the one factor for Philadelphia to continue momentum is for Ben Simmons to become more aggressive. With Simmons being the second all-star next to Embiid, his contributions are important for Philadelphia’s success.

Embiid explained to the media that Simmons’ aggressiveness on the offensive end is a plus.

“Oh yeah, for sure. … First of all, I want him to be aggressive every single play, whether it’s to make plays or whether it’s to look for his shot,” Embiid said. “He’s got to be aggressive. He’s got to make guys on the other team guard him — like tonight. We saw it. I was really excited when he made those two (jump) shots.

Whether scoring or being a playmaker, Simmons’ ability to be in attack mode gives his team a bigger chance of winning. In the Sixers’ Saturday night matchup against the Oklahoma City Thunder, Simmons recorded 13 points on 55 percent shooting from the floor. In just 29 minutes of action, he made his presence known which resulted in a blowout victory for Philadelphia.

Both Embiid and Simmons have been one of the premier duos of the NBA. Embiid continues his MVP-caliber season averaging 29.4 points and 11.1 rebounds. Simmons has been the ideal utility All-Star to compliment Embiid’s world-destroying output on the court.

The Sixers have been the number one seed in the Eastern Conference for most of the season. Despite losing that slot to Brooklyn, Philadelphia has regained its position after Saturday night’s victory. The Sixers will finish their two-game road trip Monday night in Dallas as they face the Mavericks. They will return home for Wednesday’s matchup against Brooklyn for the battle of the East.
