Philadelphia 76ers forward Mike Scott isn't one to back down from a challenge. When Philly podcast host Justin Divirglio challenged Scott via Twitter to a foot race, Scott quickly responded:

Scott has become a fan favorite in Philadelphia since being traded to Philly midway through last season. The enigmatic stretch four played a key role for the Sixers and gave them another long-range threat off the bench. In 30 games with Philly, Scott averaged 7.8 points and 3.8 rebounds a game while shooting 40 percent from the field and 41 percent from downtown.

Scott re-signed with Philadelphia this offseason, accepting a two year, $9.8 million deal. He now figures to be one of the first big men off the bench for the Sixers and extends their frontcourt depth even further after already acquiring Al Horford and locking up Tobias Harris to a max contract.

The former second-round pick has shown that he can be a valuable piece to the championship seeking Sixers. After losing JJ Redick in the offseason, they will need to find additional three-point shooting somewhere.

While some of Redick's production will be replaced by Josh Richardson, the team will need Scott to step up and help Richardson bear some of the load.

While he might be focused on the upcoming season, Scott has got a big race this Friday. My money is on the NBA athlete to take home the trophy.
