Ben Simmons has cited mental health reasons for not being able to play for the Philadelphia 76ers just yet. As it appears, however, he is refusing to get any help from the Sixers on that matter.

According to Ramona Shelburne of ESPN, the situation is frustrating the Sixers as they try to help Simmons address his mental health concerns. Instead, the Australian playmaker is working with mental health professionals through the National Basketball Players Association since the summer.

One of Philly's major concerns is Simmons' progress and objective since they want him to be able to be mentally ready to join and play for the team.

The Sixers remain eager to help Simmons address his mental readiness so he can return to the team. There's uncertainty whether he's progressing with that same objective, sources said.

For what it's worth, Ben Simmons has yet to provide the Sixers an update regarding his progress, which is probably why the team is insisting to get involved in his recovery. However, in a follow-up report by Shelburne, the 25-year-old point-forward and his camp said they will provide one when they are comfortable in doing so.

By the looks of it, Simmons is far from returning and playing for the Sixers–that is if he still desires to suit up for the City of Brotherly Love. Of course a trade is still not out of the question and is, in fact, the more likely move for Philly considering what has happened so far.
