More and more details about Overwatch 2 continue to surface. Four Heroes, namely Doomfist, Orisa, Bastion and Sombra, will be receiving major reworks and changes to their kit. While not full overhauls, these tweaks will still affect their role in a team. The newest Hero, Sojourn, was also officially revealed recently along with her kit.

A lot of the other Heroes not mentioned here also received some changes for Overwatch 2, and will feel slightly different than their Overwatch versions.

Sojourn

Overwatch 2 introduced the damage Hero Sojourn, with her origin story.

Her railgun offers both a projectile hit with the primary fire, and the hitscan from her secondary fire. Senior Hero Designer Josh Noh described her Railgun having a high skill ceiling, pertaining to the accurate aim that her primary fire begs.

Power Slide gives Sojourn mobility and a chance to reposition. If you cancel it for the high jump, Sojourn also gets good verticality, allowing her access to unique angles in the map.

Disruptor Shot helps you to aim with the slow that it offers. The crowd control that this ability provides to Sojourn can seem quite selfish, but it's specially made to complement her Secondary attack.

Overclock will charge Sojourn's Railgun energy for a short duration, and also empowers her shots to pierce enemies. As described by Noh, it was meant to feel like the hitscan version of Genji's Dragon Blade. “You will have a limited time to make a big play… or you could miss all your shots,” he added.

Noh and the rest of the Design team for Overwatch 2 hope that players will maximize Sojourn's kit, but isn't limiting her to high-skill players.  “We're looking forward to seeing how people play Sojourn in the upcoming beta! We know she has a high skill ceiling, so the team will be looking at how she performs at different skill levels to make her feel good for everyone,” Noh says.

Railgun

  • Primary Fire: Rapid firing projectiles that generate energy on impact
  • Secondary Fire: High impact shot that consumes stored energy

Power Slide

  • Ground slide that can cancel into a high jump

Disruptor Shot

  • Launch an energy shot that slows and deal damage to enemies within it

Ultimate: Overclock

  • Railgun energy auto-charges for a short duration and charged shots pierce enemies.

Doomfist

Doomfist gets to keep a majority of his old identity from Overwatch. But with his class change to Tank, his damage is significantly reduced. The launch from Seismic Slam adds more mobility to his kit. More utility was also added, with the slows on both Seismic Slam and Meteor Strike.

The addition of Power Block is certainly interesting. If you're one of the players that have been patiently waiting for his rework, Power Block might be able to buy Doomfist the extra time he needs in front of the enemies to set up his abilities.

General

  • Doomfist is now a Tank
  • Health increased to 450

Hand Cannon

  • Ammo recovery increased to once every 0.4 seconds
  • Damage reduced from 6 to 5 per pellet

Power Block

  • Protect yourself from frontal attacks.
  • Blocking heavy damage empowers Rocket Punch.
  • Empowered Rocket Punch travels faster, further, and deals increased damage.

Rocket Punch

  • Max charge time reduced to 1.0 seconds
  • Impact damage reduced to 15-30
  • Wall slam damage reduced to 20-40

Seismic Slam

  • Now launches you just like Winston's leap.
  • On landing, it deals damage and slows enemies.

Ultimate – Meteor Strike

  • Now adds a slow to all enemies hit.
  • Outer ring damage reduced to 100-15
  • Activation time reduced to 0.5 seconds.

Uppercut

  • Ability removed.

Orisa

Orisa, unlike Doomfist, changed her identity and place in a team completely with this rework. She will no longer have Protective Barrier, which means no more shields for her team. Orisa is now suited for close range crowd control with her Energy Javelin. She also retains the option to protect her and her team with Javelin Spin, getting rid of close threats and fight-changing projectiles.

Orisa also gains a new Ultimate. According to the reworked description, it will allow her to “sweep in” enemies, much like Zarya's ultimate. It also works in conjunction with Orisa's primary fire, allowing her to be a real threat for enemies that want to take her space.

It seems that with this rework, playing Orisa just got a lot trickier than “place my shield down and hold fire.”

Augmented Fusion Driver

  • Now rapidly fires large projectiles.
  • Projectiles start large then shrink down.
  • Uses a heat mechanic instead of ammo/reload

Energy Javelin

  • Launch your javelin at an enemy to stun and knock them back. More effective if the enemy hits a wall.

Fortify

  • Now also gains 125 temporary health
  • Now also slowed by 20% while active
  • Reduces heat generated from firing by 50% while active

Javelin Spin

  • Spin your javelin to destroy projectiles, push enemies, and increase forward speed.

Ultimate – Terra Surge

  • Sweep in enemies and anchor down, gaining the effects of Fortify and charging up a surge of damage.
  • Use Primary Fire to unleash the surge early.

Protective Barrier

  • Ability Removed.

Halt!

  • Ability Removed.

Supercharger

  • Ability Removed.

Bastion

Bastion also received a mini-rework. With Self-Repair gone and replaced by a more offensive ability, Bastion's gameplay no longer consists of sitting in a corner on sentry mode. This doesn't mean that you'll no longer be in Sentry mode, though. You're now allowed to move during this Configuration, albeit a little slower. As an ode to his old identity, his Artillery mode roots him in place for a short amount of time, and is able to shoot three global artillery strikes.

Hopefully with these changes, the lovable bot can be more enjoyable and satisfying to play. Reducing the cheesy potential of Sentry and Bastion's damage overall will make you rethink his playstyle.

Configuration: Recon

  • Weapon fire rate reduced by 50%
  • Damage falloff range increased to be more accurate at long range
  • Weapon spread reduced to 0

Configuration: Sentry

  • Can now move while firing! But at a reduced movement speed.
  • Weapon has unlimited ammo
  • Weapon damage reduced by 40%

Reconfigure

  • Bastion's transformation between two primary combat modes now ahs an 8 second duration and a 10 second cooldown

Tactical Grenade

  • Bastion shoots a tactical grenade that detonates after a short delay and knocks back any enemies it strikes
  • Grenades bounce off walls, but stick to enemies and floors
  • Grenades explode shortly after they stick to an enemy or floor

Ultimate – Configuration: Artillery

  • In Artillery mode, Bastion locks to the ground and unleashes a powerful long-range artillery strike
  • Manually target three different locations to strike anywhere on the map

Self-Repair

  • Ability Removed

Sombra

Sombra's tweaks to her Stealth mechanics makes her playstyle slightly identical to Tracer's: get into the enemy backline, deal good damage, or serve as a distraction. Her Hack received the biggest changes, reducing its “silence” effects but now reveals the enemy to her team.

Passive: Opportunist

  • Now also deals 50% more damage to hacked targets

Machine Pistol

  • Damage reduced from 8 to 7
  • Spread reduced by 20%

Hack

  • Cooldown reduced from 8 to 3 seconds
  • Duration increased to 8 seconds
  • Ability lock duration reduced from 5 seconds to 1 second
  • Now reveals hacked enemies to Sombra's team through walls for 8 seconds
  • Cooldown is no longer halved when hacking health packs
  • Health pack hack duration reduced from 60 to 30 seconds

Stealth

  • Fade-in time reduced by 50%
  • Detection radius increased from 2 to 4 meters
  • Using Hack no longer removes Stealth, but Sombra does become briefly visible while hacking

Ultimate – EMP

  • No longer deals any additional shield-specific damage
  • Deals 40% of enemies current HP

Translocator

  • No changes.
