An official post from Sid Shuman, Senior Director for Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) details Playstation's next State of Play. The rumors stating that it would take place on July 8 turned out to be correct. The official PlayStation Blog post states that the show will run for 30 minutes, with most of the runtime focused on Deathloop.

Bethesda Softworks will be publishing the upcoming action-adventure first-person shooter developed by Arkane Studios. Arkane is, of course, the developer behind the critically acclaimed stealth series, Dishonored.

Deathloop will be headlining the next State of Play, so let's lay down what we know already. The game is set on the island of Blackreef, and players take on the role of Colt, an assassin. The island is stuck in a time-loop, where the residents of the island throw a seemingly never-ending party. Colt needs to eliminate eight targets before the end of each night. If he fails this, the time loop will reset. It sounds like Deathloop will take some cues from Dishonored and Hitman, while also throwing in its own supernatural twist.

The upcoming State of Play will also include “updates on some exciting indie and third-party titles.” We're hoping to see Final Fantasy, Death Stranding: Director's Cut, Forspoken, and Kena: Bridge of Spirits. The official post didn't confirm which games from outside PlayStation Studios were going to show up though.

Additionally, the official post explicitly said we shouldn't expect Horizon Forbidden West or the next God of War. Next-gen PlayStation VR will also be a no-show. However, the official post did end with a tease: “Stay tuned throughout the summer though, as we’ll have more updates soon.” It looks like we might be in for another State of Play to look forward to this summer.
