The San Antonio Spurs are arguably one of the greatest franchises in all of sports. Yet history tells us that every great team is bound to have its era come to an end. The mighty Spurs still have a few more games to prove history wrong.

As observed by Reddit user AskMeAboutMyMom, the Spurs are on the brink of ending their 18-year streak of achieving 50 or more wins in the season.

There are five games left in the season and the Spurs are 45-32. They need to win all their remaining games if they want to keep the streak alive. Their next opponents are a combination of playoff contenders and bottomfeeders: L.A. Clippers, Los Angeles Lakers, Portland Trail Blazers, Sacramento Kings, and New Orleans Pelicans.

They are currently in the fourth spot and are well-within the playoffs. Yet falling short of a 50-win season could mean the beginning of the end for one of the greatest franchises in history.

It's been a tough season for the Spurs. Without their star Kawhi Leonard, they have relied heavily on LaMarcus Aldridge and their supporting cast comprised of Patty Mills, Rudy Gay, and Danny Green, among others.

Time and again, the Spurs have proven that they don't need the greatest of superstars to craft a victory. All they need is an intelligent group of guys and a great coach in Gregg Popovich. Yet has lady luck finally left their side? Is Popovich slowly losing the magic touch? He and his crew still have five games to prove the critics wrong.
