NBA legend Allen Iverson, upon hearing the death of San Antonio Spurs coach Gregg Popovich's wife, sent out his thoughts to the Popovich family via Twitter.

Below is Iverson's tweet:

Iverson is among the first who sent out his condolences to the Popovich family.

Erin Popovich has been dealing with an illness for some time. The sad news was shared a few minutes before the media session with the Golden State Warriors and the San Antonio Spurs. The Warriors lead the series 2-0 as Game 3 and 4 shifts back to San Antonio.

The news was revealed by the Spurs via a statement:

With deep regret the San Antonio Spurs announce that Erin Popovich, wife of Spurs Head Coach Gregg Popovich, passed away earlier today. Erin and Gregg were married for four decades and were blessed with two children and two grandchildren. “We mourn the loss of Erin,” said Spurs General Manager RC Buford. “She was a strong, wonderful, kind, intelligent woman who provided love, support and humor to all of us.” The organization asks media to respect the family’s privacy during this difficult time.

There is no confirmation yet whether or not Popovich will join the team in Game 3. But since this is a personal matter bigger than basketball, it is safe to assume that he won't be on the sidelines as the Spurs try to win one at home.
