LaMarcus Aldridge’s recent eye-emoji response to Damian Lillard shook up San Antonio Spurs fans. The Spurs veteran insisted that he was just bored in quarantine.

In an interview with Michael C. Wright of NBA.com, Aldridge said that he merely acknowledged Lillard’s response to a fan’s question.

I did it. So, I don’t regret it … You can’t do anything these days. [The emoji] was like, “Oh, I see it.” That was it.

Using the Blazers’ account, Dame tweeted about wanting to add his former teammate to the current roster. The tweet got deleted since, but Aldridge’s reply can still be seen.

In the interview, the Spurs forward also talked about his plans for retirement. Last year, he had expressed his intention of ending his career with the Blazers. However, Aldridge now says that he’d now be okay with retiring in either team. He cited being in a “good family” and having good memories in San Antonio. Meanwhile, he also acknowledged his long history in Portland.

In fact, Aldridge spent nine years with the Blazers. There, he averaged 19.4 points and 8.4 rebounds alongside Lillard. Before leaving in free agency, he earned four straight All-Star selections. He then moved to San Antonio in 2015. Despite rough patches in between, LMA stayed with the team. He currently has three additional All-Star selections as a Spur.

Before the suspension, San Antonio was in the midst of battling for the last West playoff spot. Within 53 games played, the 34-year-old power forward saw a slight decline in his stats with 18.9 points and 7.4 rebounds on average.
