After already not having the services of star small forward Kawhi Leonard for most of the season, the San Antonio Spurs (35-22) will be down their other star forward in LaMarcus Aldridge for the next two games in order for him to get treatment back home on his left knee. According to an article written this afternoon by Jeff McDonald of the San Antonio Express-News, Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich said that Aldridge should be good to go after the 2018 NBA All-Star Break.

“He's just getting a treatment on his knee,” coach Popovich said after the team's morning shootaround in Salt Lake City. “There's a certain amount of rest that has to happen. He's doing it now so he won't have to miss any games after the break.”

However, the treatment of Aldridge's knee injury is not expected to keep him out of the actual All-Star Game, according to a tweet from McDonald.

“I guess so we're clear: It doesn't sound like this is going to affect Aldridge's involvement in the All-Star Game, which is not exactly grueling work,” McDonald said.

In 54 starts this season for San Antonio, the six-time All-Star is currently averaging a team-high 22.4 points, 8.4 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.2 blocked shots per game in 33.9 minutes of action per contest.

Spurs point guards Dejounte Murray (ankle) and Tony Parker (back) both participated in shootaround on Monday afternoon after missing Saturday night's 122-105 loss to the Golden State Warriors at Oracle Arena. Coach Popovich said both are likely in line to play tonight against the Utah Jazz.

“If I was going to guess, I'd say they're going to play,” Popovich said. “But I've got to hear it from them first.”

Despite all the injuries, the Spurs are still the No. 3 seed in the Western Conference playoff race and are one full game ahead of the Minnesota Timberwolves.
