With the free-agent frenzy now in full swing, Golden State Warriors big man DeMarcus Cousins is still one of the few big names still available on the market.

According to The Athletic's Shams Charania, there are some teams intrigued by Cousins, and he has actually been contact with some star players, including San Antonio Spurs star DeMar DeRozan:

After returning from a career-threatening Achilles injury for the second half of last season, Cousins had a pretty modest half-year for his high standards. In 30 regular-season appearances for the Warriors, the 28-year-old averaged 16.3 points (on 48.0 percent shooting), 8.2 rebounds, 3.6 assists, 1.3 steals, and 1.5 blocks in 25.7 minutes per contest.

Cousins then suffered a serious quad injury at the beginning of the playoffs before returning in the NBA Finals, though he clearly wasn't fully healthy.

Cousins' stats may be a far cry from the numbers he put up just a year or so ago, but he can still prove to be a useful weapon for any team that may be in need of some help at the 5. For their part, this is exactly what San Antonio requires at the moment, as they seem to have a bit of a depth issue at the center position entering the new season.

However, signing Cousins might prove to be a bit problematic for the Spurs considering how tightly strapped they are right now in terms of cap space. San Antonio is well over the cap and don't have use of its full mid-level exception anymore.
