Pittsburgh Steelers running back James Conner says he expects to play in his team's Week 5 matchup against the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday, according to Brooke Pryor of ESPN.com.

Conner suffered an ankle injury during the Steelers' win over the Cincinnati Bengals this past Monday. He did not practice on Thursday.

It's not the first time that Conner has been banged up this season, either, as he was also dealing with a knee issue over the past couple of weeks. However, he did not miss any time.

Conner carried the ball 10 times for 42 yards while logging eight catches for 83 yards and a touchdown against the Bengals. On the season overall, he has rushed for 139 yards and a score while averaging a meager 3.2 yards per carry. He has also caught 19 passes for 153 yards and a touchdown.

The 24-year-old, who played his collegiate football at the University of Pittsburgh, was originally selected by the Steelers in the third round (105th pick overall) of the 2017 NFL Draft.

Due to Le'Veon Bell's presence, Conner's playing time during his rookie campaign was scarce, as he carried the ball just 32 times for 144 yards.

However, with Bell holding out last year, Conner got an opportunity and made the most of it, racking up 973 yards and 12 touchdowns while registering 4.5 yards per attempt. In addition, he hauled in 55 receptions for 497 yards and a score en route to a Pro Bowl appearance.

Conner missed three games due to an ankle injury in 2018.

Pittsburgh picked up its first win of the season in Week 4.
