Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger has looked like a shell of himself this season. It doesn't help that the 39-year-old is dealing with multiple injuries.

But does this mean Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin plans to bench Roethlisberger anytime soon? ESPN's Adam Schefter says Pittsburgh has zero plans of ever benching the Hall of Famer:

This would suggest that the only way Roethlisberger won't be the Steelers' starting quarterback is if he's physically incapable of suiting up or he retires.

While it's understandable to have a degree of loyalty to a franchise legend like Big Ben, at a point it's just foolish to keep throwing a washed-up player out there to take a beating and lose games. Pittsburgh is just 1-3 on the season and has really struggled on offense, in large part because Roethlisberger can't throw or move like the old days.

The Steelers have Mason Rudolph and Dwayne Haskins as capable backups behind Roethlisberger, but as of right now it least, it seems those guys won't be considered unless Big Ben is too hurt to play. There is a chance that's the case this week because of Roethlisberger's pec and hip injuries, but no determination has been made yet for Sunday's game against the Denver Broncos.

If Big Ben does play, he needs to figure it out, and soon.
