The addition of former MVP Kevin Durant has made an already large target in the Golden State Warriors‘ back an even larger one. For that very reason, head coach Steve Kerr is keeping his eye on the prize and off the history books.

When asked if he'd think about topping last season's historic mark of 73 wins, the coach scoffed at the notion.

“It's not even a thought,” Kerr told Anthony Slater of the San Jose Mercury News prior to the preseason opener against the Toronto Raptors. “I don't care if we added KD or Wilt Chamberlain.”

Forward Draymond Green had also shut down the notion earlier, saying it would be too brutal to try and win 74 or 75 wins last season.

Chasing the record was scripted as one of the reasons the Warriors lost steam toward the end of their playoff run, ultimately costing them the championship.

Kerr will be mindful of keeping his players fresh for the postseason and staggering his scorers along with a thinner bench to give them extra shot opportunities and keeping a well-rounded squad on the floor at all times.
