When the Phoenix Suns take the court on Wednesday night against the Milwaukee Bucks, it will mark the first time that veteran forward Greg Monroe will play against his former team.

Despite that being the case, Monroe put little importance toward facing the team that he has spent the last two-plus seasons, according to Matt Velazquez of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

Monroe's brief time back in Milwaukee didn't live up anywhere near the expectations that were set forth when he signed a three-year, $51.4 million deal as he struggled to ever find his footing with the team. He also became a liability defensively that contributed to his minutes on the floor becoming limited.

In his first three games since being traded to the Suns, Monroe has been productive in a limited role averaging 12.0 points on 66.7 percent shooting from the field with 6.0 rebounds in 21.3 minutes per contest while starting in each appearance. This includes scoring in double figures twice and a double-double in his debut with 20 points and 11 rebounds.

Although he is downplaying the matchup against his former team, the 27-year-old could have more motivation to put on a strong performance while helping the Suns grab their eighth win of the season.
