Weeks after the Phoenix Suns lost to the Dallas Mavericks in Game 7 of the Western Conference semi-finals, Mikal Bridges opened up about the disaster they experienced and its massive impact on the team.

Bridges admitted he was embarrassed after the loss, noting that it will surely be talked upon in the years to come, especially when discussing about Game 7s.

To recall, the Suns went up 2-0 in the series, raising expectations that they were going to sweep or make easy work of the Mavs in their showdown. However, Dallas protected homecourt and forced Game 7, where they went all out to secure a ticket to the West finale.

“For sure, for sure,” Bridges said during “The Old Man & the Three” podcast, when asked if he was embarrassed by the defeat.

“It’s going to be known every time somebody talks about a Game 7, you just know it’s gonna be thrown there. I don’t know if it set a record or anything like that, so if it did set a record, then you’re really gonna see it all the time. But other than that, whenever it’s Game 7 or just playoffs in general … You know all they remember is going to be that Game 7 … When you're getting ready for next year, all they’re going to talk about was, ‘You remember what happened in Game 7?' I was embarrassed, it sucks.”

Mikal Bridges' frustration was understandable. They played Game 7 at home, and since the Mavs have never beaten them there in the series, they thought it would be the same.

Sure enough, they couldn't be more wrong. Luka Doncic and co. came out hot in the first quarter and further punished the Suns with a 30-10 second quarter run. It basically sealed the game as Dallas held on for the 123-90 victory.

The Suns finished at the top of the West in the regular season, and in the end, they weren't able to live up to expectations. They'll look to be better come the 2022-23 campaign, but their playoffs defeat will certainly sting for quite some time.
