The Phoenix Suns are set to make a return to the playoffs as they aim for a top-three seed in the Western Conference. However, the Suns continue to make headlines, although this time for an entirely different reason. The Suns' famous Gorilla mascot has made history, according to Nick DePaula of ESPN.

Yes, the mascot has inked a deal that will allow him to sport rare clothing while cheering on the team. This is historic and rather surprising. Will he be the start of a future for a sports team that has mascots?

Perhaps other teams will follow suit, and the Suns are trying this out. For Phoenix on the court, they have much to be excited about.

As the season draws to an end, the Suns are in control of their own destiny and could very well end the season as the number one overall seed in the Western Conference and in the NBA as a whole, something that's unprecedented for the Suns especially in the past decade.

Perhaps the mascot will be rooting them on deep in the playoffs. Phoenix also became the first team to have in-arena sports betting by notching a deal with FanDuel.

In more ways than one, they breaking barriers and are having fun while their team has a legitimate shot to compete for Western Conference supremacy with the core of Devin Booker and Chris Paul, as well as DeAndre Ayton.
