The Phoenix Suns are scrambling after veteran point guard Chris Paul officially became an unrestricted free agent after declining his option. Then came the news from Marc Spears of The Undefeated, who said Paul underwent surgery.

“Phoenix Suns point guard Chris Paul is expected to be ready for the start of training camp next season after having left wrist surgery, a source told ESPN's The Undefeated on Monday. Paul had the wrist surgery recently after the NBA Finals, the source said.”

The goodness is that Paul is likely headed back to Phoenix and has long been expected to sign a deal with the Suns. Now his surgery will be a question mark, but if he can be healthy by training camp– as the report says– then the Suns (or another team), have nothing to worry about.

The Suns bringing back Chris Paul is a must, and a nucleus of Devin Booker, Deandre Ayton, and Paul would have every chance to make another NBA Finals run, even with the likes of the Golden State Warriors and Los Angeles Lakers expected to be at the forefront of the Western Conference.

For now, Paul is a free agent, and is recovering from surgery, so who knows what happens with The Point God.
